How to Make Meatloaf
Meatloaf is one of those foods that is very versatile. You can do many things with it and add different items to it depending on what you like. This guide is here to give you a basic outline of what is needed to create good meatloaf, but it will also leave you with many options to add whatever flavors and items you like.
1. Collect the following items: one pound of lean ground beef, half of an onion, two cloves of garlic, dried oregano, one egg, salt, pepper, tomato paste or ketchup, bread crumbs, the best cutting knife you have, a baking sheet. The following items are optional if you want them: green peppers and potatoes.
2. The first thing you want to do is take the cutting knife and finally dice all the vegetables you have except for the potatoes if you have them.
3. Then, get your baking pan. Put the lean ground beef in the pan.
4. Put as much pepper, oregano, and salt on top of the meat as you want.
5. Crack an egg on top of the meat and put about a half cup of bread crumbs in with the meat to.
6. Put all the vegetables you just chopped up in the pan to.
7. Work all of the ingredients into the meat. Make sure not to overwork the meat because this will make for a tough meatloaf and you do not want that.
8. Form the meat into the shape of a loaf.
9. Cover the meatloaf with either ketchup or tomato paste depending on what you have.
10. Pour about two cups of water into the pan with the meatloaf. This is done to ensure the meatloaf will stay moist and not dry up in the oven.
11. *Optional* Peel the potatoes and slice them in to quarters. Then add them into the pan. This will give you tomato oven roasted potatoes.
12. Cover the pan with tinfoil and bake at 375 degrees in the oven.
13. Every fifteen minutes or so check to see how much water is left in the pan. Add water when water is needed.
14. After about one hour of cooking, remove the tinfoil from the pan. This is done so the meatloaf can crisp up a little on the top. Let it cook for fifteen more minutes like this and remove it from the oven.
15. Slice and serve.
Meatloaf is a favorite of a lot of people because of the amount of variations it has.
