As the gateway between buying new music, making playlists, and sharing music with others, iTunes is a great system to keep learning about. iTunes is capable of doing a lot with your music library, one of which is burning CDs. This is a simple and straightforward step-by-step to burn anything from one song to a whole album onto a CD.
- REMEMBER to have a blank CD nearby, and be sure it has not been used before and is completely blank, AND to eject any CD or DVD that is in you computer before starting.
- Open your iTunes application, which will automatically bring you to the iTunes Store main page.
- Go to the top, left-hand corner under ‘LIBRARY’ and select the category ‘Music.’
- Now, on the bottom left-hand corner is a symbol that looks like a plus sign, ‘+’ Click on the plus sign to create a new playlist.
- At first the new playlist will be listed as ‘Untitled Playlist.’ Double click on the title to erase ‘Untitled Playlist,’ and type instead the desired name for your CD.
- Now that you have a playlist ready, travel back to the top left-hand corner and select your ‘Music’ library again to view all your music.
- Either scroll down your entire library’s contents, or enter titles of songs into the Search bar in the top right-hand corner to find music by name.
- After you find a song you want to burn onto your CD, click on the song title and hold down, dragging the song title to your playlist in the left-hand side of the page. Once the song title is brought over the play list title, release the click to drop the song into your playlist.
- If you click on the play list itself, it should show the song title listed. Repeat step 8 for every song you wish to add to the playlist.
- After you have dragged and dropped every song you want into the playlist, select the playlist itself to view its contents. On the bottom right of the page is a buttom that reads, ‘Burn Disc.’ Click on ‘Burn Disc.’
- A pop-up window will appear titled ‘Burn Settings,’ offering options such as how long of a pause you would like between song tracks when playing the CD. After you have chosen your desired settings, select ‘Burn’ in the bottom right of the pop-up window.
- The pop-up window will disappear and the top of your iTunes page will read, “Please insert a blank disc…” This is when you may slide your blank CD into your computer, FACE UP.
- Once the CD is inserted, iTunes will begin to burn the music onto the CD, showing progess on the screen as each song is burned. 14. Once the burning is complete, the computer will eject the newly burned CD with the songs from your playlist.
